For households considering battery storage, one of the most important questions about the NSW Home Energy Saver program is whether the zero-interest finance can apply to solar and household battery upgrades.

Solar and batteries are included among eligible upgrades

The NSW Government program includes rooftop solar and household batteries among the energy-saving upgrades that may be financed, subject to household eligibility, finance approval and the program requirements that apply to the installation.

How much can eligible households borrow?

The Home Energy Saver loan provides eligible households access to zero-interest finance of up to $15,000, with repayment periods of up to 10 years. The right upgrade still needs to be selected based on the property rather than simply borrowing the maximum available amount.

Plan the battery before applying

Before committing to a battery, review your electricity consumption, solar generation, evening usage, desired backup capability and whether your existing solar equipment is suitable for integration.

Home Energy Saver and other incentives

Government loan programs and other solar or battery incentives can have separate eligibility rules. Treat them as separate mechanisms and confirm the current requirements that apply when you are ready to proceed.

Northern Rivers solar and battery quotes

NRSE can help households across the Northern Rivers assess the solar and battery installation itself. Finance approval remains with the relevant program and finance provider.
