From 1 July 2025, the Cheaper Home Batteries Program was rolled out nationally, giving households, small businesses and community facilities access to significant rebates on home battery systems. This initiative has already helped many Australians save thousands on battery installations, using the same trusted Small‑scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) framework that has supported solar rebates since 2011.

In addition to the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, the NSW Government is now introducing the Home Energy Saver Loan and Discount — a major program designed to help homeowners and landlords upgrade their homes with modern, energy‑efficient technology.

The program offers interest‑free loans of up to $15,000. In addition, a separate discount of up to $4,000 will soon be available to eligible homeowners and renters for approved battery installations.
 

We’re excited about the opportunities these programs create for NSW households to reduce energy bills and improve energy independence.
 

Northern Rivers Solar & Electrical is currently in the process of becoming an approved supplier, which is required before we can offer the Home Energy Saver Loan or the upcoming NSW Battery Discount. Our application is underway, and once approved, we will be able to assist clients in accessing the NSW Government loan and discount programs.
 

As our approval progresses, we will continue to update this page. In the meantime, we will continue to assist clients using the Cheaper Home Batteries rebate.
