How Do Solar Panels Work?
Solar panels are an amazing piece of technology that harness the sun's energy to produce electricity through the use of photovoltaic (PV) cells. These PV cells are typically made from semiconducting materials, such as silicon, which have unique properties allowing them to absorb sunlight and generate electrical current. For more information on the process, visit our 'Deep Dive Into Solar Panels' tab on the website here.

How Do Batteries Work?
Solar batteries are designed to store the energy generated by solar panels so it can be used later, whether that be during the night, on rainy days or even during a black-out! This offers a reliable and sustainable power solution for your home. For more information on the process, visit our 'Deep Dive Into Batteries' tab on the website here.

Do Solar Panels Work During Cloudy Days Or At Night?
Solar panels rely on sunlight to generate electricity through their photovoltaic cells. While they work best in direct & bright sunlight, they can still function on cloudy or overcast days—albeit at reduced efficiency. The amount of electricity produced depends on the intensity and quality of sunlight penetrating the clouds. Thin clouds allow more light to reach the panels, resulting in better performance compared to thick or dark clouds.
At night, solar panels cannot produce energy because there is no sunlight available to activate their cells. However, this doesn't mean you have to be left without power! Battery storage systems are a game-changer.

How Do I Claim The Solar and Battery Rebates via the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme?
At NRSE, we take care of everything for you—from your initial quote to the final installation. We’ll calculate your rebate (STCs) upfront and clearly itemize the quantity and value in your quote for full transparency.
Once you decide to move forward, we’ll handle all the necessary applications to ensure your rebate is processed and your system is up and running hassle-free.

Can I Back-up My Whole Home?
Yes! NRSE supply battery systems that enable you to back-up your whole home in the event of a black out. The battery will even continue to charge and power your home when the grid fails, ensuring power even days into a black-out.

What Is Net Metering?
Net Metering is a system where excess energy generated by your solar panels is sent back to the grid, and you receive small credits on your electricity bill.
What Warranties Do You Provide?
The warranty applicable to your system will be dependent on the products and models you choose. Typically, solar panel warranties range from 20-30 years. The inverter and battery warranties are typically 10 years.
NRSE attach the applicable product sheets to every quote we issue to ensure you have easy access to this information prior to moving forward!

How Much Does Solar Cost?
At Northern Rivers Solar & Electrical, we customise each system to suit the resident's usage and home. As you can imagine, every home varies in usage and needs so there is no 'one cost' however on average, prices range from $8,000 to $22,000 (before rebates).

Does NRSE Offer Off-Grid Solutions?
Yes, reach out to us for further information!

What Are The Environmental Benefits of Solar Energy?
Solar energy offers significant environmental benefits that make it one of the cleanest and most sustainable power sources available.
Here's a deeper look at how it contributes to a greener planet:
Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Solar energy is a renewable resource that generates electricity without burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, or natural gas. By transitioning to solar power, households and businesses can reduce their reliance on fossil fuel-based energy, which is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. This helps combat climate change and reduce air pollution, making the environment healthier for everyone.
Decreases Reliance on Non-Renewable Resources: Fossil fuels are finite and come with significant environmental risks, such as habitat destruction and pollution caused by extraction and transportation. Solar energy is abundant, renewable, and virtually inexhaustible, offering a cleaner alternative that doesn't deplete Earth's natural resources.
Improves Air Quality: Traditional power generation produces pollutants like carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, which harm air quality and public health. Solar energy generates electricity without releasing any harmful emissions, leading to cleaner, fresher air.
Preserves Ecosystems: Fossil fuel extraction and usage can lead to deforestation, water contamination, and damage to ecosystems. Solar panels, on the other hand, have a much smaller environmental footprint, requiring less space and infrastructure while avoiding damage to wildlife and landscapes.
Promotes Sustainable Development: By reducing dependence on fossil fuels and investing in clean energy, solar power contributes to a more sustainable future. It supports efforts to mitigate global warming and ensures that future generations can enjoy a healthier planet.
Overall, solar energy plays a pivotal role in protecting the environment, reducing harm to the planet, and paving the way for a sustainable and eco-friendly future.
